We offer the following testing equipment:

Friction

o Typically known as CFME (Continuous Friction Measurement Equipment), these machines use a system of sliding a special treadless rubber over a pavement surface and measuring the resulting drag force to calculate the frictional properties of the surface.

Falling Weight Deflectometer

o The PaveTesting Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD) is used to measure the ability of a tested pavement to support its working load by measuring the vertical deflection of the surface under an impulse load.

Profiling and Digital Imaging

o The PaveProf is a modular system that uses 3D laser sensors to measure pavement profiles for applications such as highways and runways. It measures surface roughness, texture and rutting at highway speeds and to international standards.

Accelerated Pavement Tester

o The Pave®MLS is a real-world mobile load simulator designed to replicate the characteristics of truck loading. The system is available in 1/3 scale or full scale.

Laboratory and Field Testing

o Beam Bending Rheometer
– The Beam Bending Rheometer (BBR) conducts flexural tests on asphalt binder and similar specimens according to ASTM D6648-01 and AASHTO T313-02.
o FlexPanels
– Humboldt FlexPanels provide a simple and highly efficient distribution system for supplying air, water, and deaerated water for use in permeability and triaxial testing applications.
o Humboldt Water Baths
– Humboldt Water Baths are a perfect fit for Marshall and Superpave testing applications and meet ASTM D1559, D5581, and D4867.
o Triaxial Cells
– For those planning to conduct triaxial testing in addition to permeability testing, consider the HM-4199B and HM-4199SS triaxial cells for the added convenience of using a single cell for both tests.

Electrical Density Gauge
o The Electrical Density Gauge (EDG) is a nuclear-free alternative for determining the moisture and density of compacted soil used in road subgrades and foundations.

GeoGauge
o The GeoGauge is a unique field quality control/quality assurance tool that can be used to measure the uniformity of unbound pavement layers by measuring the stiffness variability throughout the structure.

Nuclear Density Gauge
o Humboldt’s NEW HS-5001SD Moisture/Density Gauge makes operation, data collection and processing, safety and repair easier and more efficient than any other gauge in its class.

Portable Skid Resistance Gauge
o The Portable Skid Resistance Gauge is an essential tool for anyone tasked with reducing the risk of accidents caused by slippery road and pavement surfaces. Originally developed by the UK’s Transport and Roads Research Laboratory.
