New Matest Porometer: quick and precise check of air content in fresh concrete
Controlling the air content in fresh concrete is crucial for the quality, durability and expected performance of concrete – especially in mixtures exposed to freeze/thaw or where workability and durability are important. That is why Matest presents the New Porometer, a device that determines the percentage of air in fresh concrete according to the pressure equalization process.
How does the Matest porometer work?
The Matest porometer uses an aluminum pressure chamber in which air pressure is manually generated using an integrated hand/electric pump (depending on the version). The procedure is simple and effective:
- The test vessel is filled with fresh mortar or concrete.
- Air pressure is created in the pressure chamber of the device using an integrated pump.
- After opening the overflow valve, the system is equalized – pressure balance is achieved with the vessel filled with the sample.
- Based on the pressure equalization, the device allows the percentage of air contained in the fresh mixture to be read.
This measurement principle is particularly practical for laboratories, construction sites and quality control in concrete plants because it allows for reliable assessment with a relatively quick procedure.
Coming soon: additional capacities
If the standard 5 or 8 liters is not ideal for your sample type and internal test procedure, the good news is that additional capacities will soon be available, making the offer even better adapted to the different requirements in practice.
